In Reception this week we have been learning about Cinderella and comparing the story to other fairy tales with castles, knights, kings and queens. Inside we have been writing our own ball invitations, making food for our own ball in the play dough, acting with the small world castle and knights, building our own castles using junk modelling and exploring numbers to 12 on the clock face.
Outside we have been preparing for our own ball which came to life today! We have been making glitter wands using sticks and making jewellery using pasta and string, developing those fine motor skills! We also made king, queen, knight and princess crowns and dressed up like them so we could dance our way round the ballroom and attend a delightful feast. We enjoyed making lots of different meals and food using the natural materials we found outside, we particularly enjoyed using the number stones to talk about the number meaning how many sparkles were on the cake, everyone wanted the biggest number they could find!
Check out some of our great moves in this video … Dancing at the Ball
We also were able to follow our own Super Hero interests by making and designing capes outside and role playing super heroes.
