Linking topic with maths, the Oaks spent time doing scale drawings of the planets of

our solar system. With a scale of 1 centimetre:1 metre, the children initially drew planets in their books; however, this was not possible for Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune – due to the sheer vastness of the four ‘gas giants.’ This meant that the class had to use chalk, skipping ropes and tape measures and move out onto the yard.

With superb logic, based on knowledge of radius, diameter and circumference, everyone collaborated well and did a great job of showing the comparison in size between all eight planets.
