Our new topic for this half term is ‘Winter Wonderland.’ In Maths this week we have been exploring different possibilities and combinations of numbers and patterns.  We began the week by counting the correct number of buttons onto snowmen and partitioning them by placing some on the top half of the body and some on the bottom, using the language of part, part, whole.  We explored all the different combinations of 5 or 6 and then ordered the snowmen systematically – beginning with the smallest number and finishing with the largest number.  Later on in the week, we then explored possibilities and combinations of coloured hats that the snowmen could wear.  We thought really hard about each combination, checking to see if we had already found the pattern previously.  We were really impressed with how well the children completed this activity! Well done Ladybirds!
