Mathematics:
(20 mins) Daily count up to a given number (up to 30). Count back from 20. Quick fire 1 more than 1 less than. (1 more than 3, 1 less than 6.)
Now let’s do some counting (and dancing!). Have a look at the video below to help you count backwards from 20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=7&v=8hD26XpuUCc&feature=emb_title
• Use the powerpoint to recap what ordinal numbers are https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/wl-n-139-pirate-themed-ordinal-numbers-powerpoint.
• Talk to your child about their daily routine. Lets think about what we do in the morning when we get up. Can they draw what they do first? For example, first (Wake up), second (have breakfast), third (get changed) etc. Cut the pictures out and label them with ordinal number cards.
• Watch the ordinal numbers video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CWWNzprEQ4
• Perhaps today you could do some baking. Choose a simple recipe or maybe your favourite one. Go ahead and have all of the tools out for them. Then allow them to complete the steps as independently as they can. Let them complete 3 steps. Eg “First, pour in the pudding mix. Second, pour in 2 cups of milk. Third, stir it all together.”
• Play the maths game. Pick either addition facts to make 10 or 20: http://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/smoothie/index.html
• Finally recap on our symmetry learning by playing the game – https://pbskids.org/peg/games/symmetry-painter
Other:
• Let’s start the day with some Cosmic Kids Yoga. Today we will be doing ‘Nibs the Octopus’.
• Hide treasure in the garden. Make a map for people to find it or ask your grown up for some real coins or have a look in your money boxes. See if you can find some really shiny coins. Next, think of a good hiding place for your treasure and make sure your grown up doesn’t see it. Next, invite your grown up to come and find your treasure. Give them clues and tell them when they are getting warmer / colder. When they find it, it’s their turn to hide the treasure and give you clues.
• Pirates don’t always have the best manners or the healthiest meals. Go onto the Oak National Academy (see link below) and complete the activity on Polite Manners and healthy foods. There is a story to listen to, all about dinosaurs with bad table manners! After the story you need to think carefully about healthy and unhealthy foods and create a healthy food plate. You might be able to make a real healthy plate, as it’s probably about time for lunch now! https://www.thenational.academy/reception/foundation/polite-manners-1-reception-wk6-1
