Dear parents/ carers,
Thank you so much for the many responses to the Home Learning Feedback Survey. The responses were overwhelmingly positive; comments have been passed on to all staff and are very much appreciated by us all.
We have taken all feedback on board, and there were some areas for development identified.
In the event of further class closures in the New Year, we plan to:
- work with children in the New Year on improving resilience and independence through the development of growth mindset, which will hopefully encourage children to be able to access their work themselves where parents are working from home. This will include a parent workshop delivered virtually to share the techniques we will use so these can also be applied to home learning;
- introduce more live teaching sessions per day in the event that a class is closed (so long as the class teacher is well enough to do so);
- provide resources to help parents navigate online learning resources through the school website;
- set weekly online homework for all children, to develop their skills in accessing the work independently.
We appreciate the difficulties faced by some parents in terms of working from home while supporting their child’s online learning; many staff have been in the same position themselves. We will always be flexible and understanding where this is the case, and please just let us know if you or your child is finding things difficult and we will do what we can to support your family.
If you ever need support with your child’s online learning, there are several channels which can be used. windyrl@gatedu.org is our remote learning support email address. Parents can also contact the school office at any time, or use the private messaging or comments functions in Google Classroom to ask questions.
Thank you for all of your support and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas.
Mrs Hope
