Last week, Year 5 learnt all about poetry. At the start of the week, we had explored a number of war poems and began to unpick the features that are commonly used e.g. simile, onomatopoeia, alliteration etc. Children then created their own word banks and used thesauruses to enrich their vocabulary further. Finally, children used all they had learnt and created their own poems. They were excellent and you could see that children had really tried hard to create imagery!

To round off the week, children got up and performed their poems to the class! Well done everyone!
