To kick off our new science topic, children in LKS2 have been exploring sounds and the vibrations that create them. Each class has used various musical instruments and observed how the vibrations created, when musical instruments are used, transfers into sound waves. We have plucked violin strings, beaten drums and tapped tambourines. All these instruments vibrated before our eyes and we could hear the different sounds, volumes and pitches, depending on how we played each instrument.
