We’ve been getting hands‑on with measuring mass using balancing scales.
We started by using cubes to compare objects – adding cubes until the scales balanced to see which items were heavier or lighter. Once children understood how balancing works, we moved on to real measurements, exploring grams (g) and kilograms (kg) and when to use each one.
The children loved comparing objects and using words like heavier, lighter and equal.
Try at home: compare items around the house, or look at weights on food packets when cooking or shopping.
