Owls and Robins reach 100

This week in KS1, our Owls and Robins have been busy growing their number confidence all the way up to 100! The children have been partitioning numbers into tens and ones, helping them really understand what numbers are made of rather than just recognising them.

Using practical equipment, pictures and games, the children explored how, for example, 47 is made of 4 tens and 7 ones. They also enjoyed finding one more and one less than given numbers, discussing how numbers change and spotting patterns along the way.
You might hear your child talking about “tens” and “ones” at home or even challenging you with “What’s one more than…?” This is brilliant learning in action!
