KS1 keyboard creativity!

This half term, our Key Stage 1 pupils have been building their computing skills by learning how to use a keyboard with confidence. The children explored what different keys do and practised using them while creating their own digital work.

We began by learning about important keys, including the space bar, enter key, and backspace. The children quickly learned how these keys help us type, make spaces between words, start new lines and correct mistakes. They enjoyed practising their typing and became more independent as their confidence grew.

To apply their new skills, the children took part in an exciting activity where they created “Missing Teddy Bear” posters. They carefully typed descriptions of their teddies, thinking about appearance, colour and special features. The children used the keyboard to write sentences, add spaces, and edit their work using the backspace key.

It was fantastic to see their creativity shine as they designed their posters and proudly shared them with their classmates. The children showed great perseverance, helping one another and taking care with their work.
