Speak Up Gateshead!

This week saw Elms and Tulips reach the final stage of the Speak Up Gateshead project. Three children from across the two classes were chosen to go on a very special visit to the civic centre in Gateshead. They went into the council chambers along with representatives from the education service as well as staff and children from other Gateshead schools. After much deliberation and a very difficult decision, one child from our school was chosen to deliver their presentation. They did an amazing job talking about cheerleading. They spoke very confidently in front of an audience and really did Windy Nook proud! Back at school, Elms and Tulips joined in with the event via livestream, watching the presentations from our classrooms and taking part in a range of activities to encourage oracy. We all had a fantastic morning and would like to share our thanks with the team from Gateshead who worked so hard to put the project and event together. We’ve all enjoyed the work we’ve completed and developed oracy skills which will be valuable throughout our lives.
