Our Reception children have been full of excitement as they observed their caterpillars form a chrysalis, sparking lots of curiosity and discussion about how living things grow and change. They have been carefully checking on them each day, wondering what might be happening inside and predicting what will happen next.
Alongside this, the children explored symmetry through creating their own butterfly artwork. Using a folding technique, they applied paint to one side and pressed it to create a mirrored pattern. This helped them understand that symmetry means both sides are the same. The children compared their designs to real butterflies, noticing matching colours, shapes, and patterns on each wing.
