Owls class have been enjoying the wonderful story A Squash and a Squeeze as part of their English learning. The children explored new vocabulary from the text, including larder, implore, wise and curious, discussing their meanings and using them in conversations about the story and its characters.
The pupils then demonstrated their understanding by ordering the events of the story. They carefully thought about what happened at the beginning, middle and end, using clues from the text to help them sequence the events correctly. This activity supported their comprehension skills and helped them develop confidence in retelling a familiar story. We are looking forward to using our growing vocabulary and storytelling skills in future English lessons.
