Owls Class have been busy developing their subtraction skills by exploring how to subtract through 10 using practical resources. The children used number lines and ten frames to help them visualise their thinking and solve subtraction calculations with confidence. They also revisited their number bond facts to 10, using partitioning strategies to support their understanding and make tricky calculations easier.
As mathematicians, the children reflected on the different methods they had used and discussed which approach worked best for them. It was wonderful to hear them explain their reasoning and share their mathematical thinking with others. We are incredibly proud of our Owl Mathemagicians for their hard work and determination as they continue to grow in confidence with number facts and subtraction strategies!
