As part of our continuing Overselves topic, the children helped to create a wonderful Where Do You Like to Play? display. Each child chose a favourite place to play, had their photograph taken there and then talked about their picture. Children added marks or writing to a speech bubble to share their ideas, creating a display that celebrates their voices and interests.
We have also continued exploring how everyone is unique through stories about diversity, helping children to understand that it is okay to be different and that our differences make us special. Alongside this, the children enjoyed using a matching game on the interactive whiteboard, carefully noticing details about a variety of people and deciding whether they were the same or different.
In maths, we investigated shape through building structures using boxes and containers. The children talked about the different shapes they could see and name and explored balancing the items. They made predictions about whether objects would stay balanced or fall, before testing out their ideas.
To support phonological awareness, speech and language development, the children took part in a listening game using musical instruments. They listened carefully to different instruments being played, named them and then identified individual instruments when an adult played them.
During our Outdoor Friday session, the children collected autumn leaves and used them to create beautiful printed artwork. After painting the leaves, they pressed them onto paper to explore colour, pattern and shape while creating their own autumn-inspired pictures.
