In UKS2 maths this week, children used manipulatives to investigate squared numbers, helping them to spot patterns and develop their understanding of mathematical rules. Through excellent partnership work and collaboration, they shared ideas, challenged each other’s thinking and explained their reasoning clearly. Children also used the Rally Coach Kagan Structure to support one and other’s understanding of long division, taking turns to coach, guide and encourage their partners. It was fantastic to see such strong mathematical talk, with pupils confidently explaining methods and using precise vocabulary.
