Throughout October, we have been celebrating black history month by looking at a range of important figures. Our influential person that we have focused on in Nightingales has been Martin Luther King. We learnt about what he did to help the civil rights movement in America and the impact he had in making things more fair for African Americans at the time. The children enjoyed watching his speeches and listening to the inspirational things he had to say. This week we thought about his I have a dream speech and discussed why it was just a dream at the time. The children created rainbow thought bubbles which they then wrote a part of Martin Luther King’s speech in. The children have really enjoyed learning about him so far and always look forward to learning more about Black history.
