PE in Lower Key Stage 2 – Cricket Skills This Week

This week in PE, our Lower Key Stage 2 children have been developing their cricket skills, with a focus on passing, batting and teamwork. The children practised accurate underarm and overarm passing, learned how to hold and use a cricket bat safely, and worked on striking the ball with control and confidence.

Throughout the lessons, the pupils showed excellent determination and encouragement towards one another. They worked collaboratively in pairs and teams, demonstrating good sportsmanship and resilience while improving their coordination and communication skills.

Our learning links closely to the Rights Respecting Schools Articles:

  • Article 29 – Children have the right to develop their talents and abilities to their full potential. Through PE, children build confidence, physical skills and teamwork.
  • Article 31 – Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in games and sporting activities. Cricket lessons provide opportunities for children to enjoy being active and learning new skills in a fun environment.
  • Article 15 – Children have the right to meet with others and work together. Team games encourage cooperation, respect and positive communication.
