As part of our ‘Life on the Tyne’ topic, Bluebells have been looking at a number of local bridges over the last few weeks. In our topic lessons we have been looking at the different types of bridges and why they are designed that way.
This week the Bluebells had the opportunity to make their own bridges in groups, using nothing but paper, art straws and sellotape. The challenge was to make the strongest bridge that could hold the most weight.
There were some fantastic creations and the children all really thought about what might make their bridge stronger. The winning team in Bluebells managed to hold 2.6kg of weights on their bridge.
Well done to everyone for their creative thinking and fantastic team work!
