To conclude our topic on rivers, the children put on their engineering heads and came up with some designs and models of various bridges. After researching the different types of bridges, each group was given a selection of materials from which to construct their bridges to see which design would hold the most weight. The children created both arch and beam bridges and found the beam bridges to be the simplest to make but also the most load bearing.
