Article 28: You have the right to a good quality education. You should be encouraged to go to school to the highest level you can.
After getting our new maths tool kits yesterday we were all super keen to get in to them and use our new resources. Today we impressed Mrs Broomhall with our concrete investigation skills.
Firstly we used the mini cubes to build different letter shapes and then measured their perimeter. We were surprised to see that it was almost always 22cm so we were then set the challenge of finding one where the perimeter was different. Kiara found this the fastest noticing that the letter X didn’t follow this rule. Well done Kiara!
We then moved away from the concrete apparatus and on to diagrams, finding different shapes with the same perimeter.
We then used our findings to predict what would happen if we increased our measurements. We hope that our new tool kits will help us to use practical maths like this to support our understanding of our written work.
