To start our road safety campaign and to try to get the council to employ a lollipop person to help us cross the road safely, we decided to complete a road traffic survey.

We completed the survey on Tuesday 20th November, between 8.35 and 8.45. We were shocked to find that during ten minutes 114 cars, 2 buses, and 3 lorries passed Windy Nook School.

One member of the school council said, “This is really serious. There are so many cars and they are going very fast. We don’t have a lollipop person to help us cross the road anymore and I don’t feel safe crossing the road”.

This is the start of our campaign to make the road outside of our school safer. Please help us on Thursday 6th of December by signing our petition to reinstate a lollipop person.

Thank you

The school Council

When adults make decisions, they should think about how their decisions will affect children. This particularly applies to budget, policy and law makers.

Article 12 (Respect for the views of the child): When adults are making decisions that affect children,
children have the right to say what they think should happen and have their opinions taken into account.
