This week, the Snowdrops have learned about the Ancient Egyptian process of mummification. Some groups made their own sarcophagus, others sculpted canopic jars, while some people were wrapped in linen and fabric (which definitely was not toilet roll) and mummified!
The class learned a lot about this practice of preserving the dead. They discovered how the brain of the deceased was removed, how the body was covered in palm oil and left to dry for 40 days, and which organs were stored in the canopic jars.
A special mention has to be given how the groups worked as a team – including for the tidy-up at the end of the session! It meant there was even time to dance to ‘Walk Like An Egyptian!’
