Article 28: You have the right to a good quality education.
As part of our Art and Design topic Nightingales visited The Shipley Art Gallery to take part in a felt making workshop. First we found out lots of interesting facts about all different types of fabrics. We got to touch and feel them too and find out where they came from and how they were made. Then we set about making our own felt. It’s an amazing process going from clumps of brightly coloured wool to a pile of something that looks like candyfloss. Then we added contrasting thin colours of wool and then the magic bit happened. We put fine mesh on top and poured over some warm soapy water. The we had to rub hard so that all the fibres got tangled up together. We had o squeeze the water out, rinse it and then leave it to dry. The colours are brilliant. We wonder what is going to happen next? You’ll have to wait and see!
