In Lower Key Stage 2, we had a visit from Technology Tom. He came in to school and delivered a brilliant workshop all about structures and mechanisms. This really helped us with our Design and Technology project.
Tom showed us how structures provide stability for a mechanism to be able to work efficiently. He also demonstrated various types of mechanism.
After we had critiqued the different mechanisms, we decided on using a lever to make our pop-up toy move. After assembling the mechanism, we began to design around it – including the backdrop to the scene.
