INTERNET SAFETY DURING COVID -19

Detective Sergeant Ian Drummond responsible for the management of the Northumbria Police PREVENT team within Special Branch has asked schools to put a post on school websites to remind and signpost parents and carers about internet safety. He expresses concerns that the closure of our schools due to Covid-19 will create opportunities for those people around the world who would seek to prey upon the vulnerable. We can expect the use of the internet by children to vastly increase and remain at that level for an extended period. This is a reminder for parents to carefully monitor their child’s online activity always, but even more so at this anxious period.
