Suggested follow up activities:
• Your child could describe their own pets.
• Use their imagination to write a new story about pet animals.
• Write a list of things they need to do to take care of their pet.
PHONICS: (15 mins) Revisit the phonics sounds learnt (phase 2 & 3). https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/member-only/FlashcardsTC.html
• Play the phonics game phase 2 & 3. Children are to sound out the word and decide whether the word is real or nonsense (What a load of nonsense). • Encourage your child to write some of these words. If you have a printer there are lots of activities in the teacher section.
MATHEMATICS: (20 mins) Daily count up to a given number (up to 30). Count back from 20. Quick fire 1 more than 1 less than. (1 more than 3, 1 less than 6.)
• Turn over number cards from the pack. Pick one at random. Can you do that many claps. Repeat, this time do that many jumps/hops/twirls etc.
• Close you eyes and listen as your grown up makes a noise. Can you write down how many times they made the noise. Try again.
