• Have the children go on a “symmetry hunt” around the house, identify symmetrical objects and draw these objects on paper. Perhaps make a chart of symmetrical objects in the room.
• If you have them use a gingerbread cutter (or a different cutter) Draw round the gingerbrad man cutter twice on 2 pieces of paper and divide each one by drawing a faint line down the middle (the long way). Get your child to color in only one side of the gingerbread man’s face, hands, clothes, shoes, etc whilst you do the other. When they are finished coloring in and adding detail to one half of the gingerbread man cutouts, switch cutouts and finish what each other has began. The aim Is that the child replicates the original design so that both halves of the gingerbread men are symmetrical.
• Have a go at this symmetry game http://boowakwala.uptoten.com/kids/boowakwala-adventures-butterfly-butterflycolor.html
• Play the maths game. Pick either subtraction to 10 or 20 http://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/smoothie/index.html
