Today we had a butterfly release at Windy Nook in our wildlife area. Over the last few weeks Harriet has been bringing in photographs of her caterpillars and then the chrysalis so we were very excited to finally see the butterflies.
Harriet gave us a fantastic presentation before she opened the bag that they had called their home.
Four of the butterflies flew out quite quickly but one found it difficult to fly as part of its wing was broken. We settled him on a leaf and the children gave it things to nibble on. Harriet called him Curly. He has since flown off.
