Article 24: You have the right to the best health care possible, safe water to drink, nutritious food, a clean and safe environment, and information to help you stay well.

LITERACY:
Today we are going to begin with a wonderful rhyming mermaid story written by one of our favourite authors – Julia Donaldson. Click on the link below, sit back and enjoy it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8E0xAL8heE
Today you have a choice of activities – pick your favourite! We would like you to –
• Write a letter to the singing mermaid. Please remember to begin your letter with Dear Mermaid and finish it with love from or just from and your name. What questions would you like to ask? What would you like to know? Perhaps you are writing to the mermaid when she is trapped in the circus. Are you going to let her know that you will try to save her? What will you say to cheer her up? OR you might like to……..
• Design a poster for Sam Sly’s circus letting everybody know that the Singing Mermaid can be seen there! Think of a short sentence to put at the top of your poster! What sort of pictures will you draw? Make it colourful and bright.
Discuss the plot and characters. Talk about first, then, next and finally.
Make a story map using drawings and writing key words. Encourage your child to write key words that describe different parts of the story map.
