This week in Science, the Nightingales learned all about the 5 senses. We watched an informative video and discussed why each of our senses was important and how we used them in day to day life. The children then took part in a carousel of activities based on the senses. For sight, they played Kim’s game where they had to try and guess which item had been taken off the tray. For smell, the children had to smell a variety of different scents and organise them under the correct label. For taste, children looked at pictures of different types of food and had to decide which were sweet, spicy, salty or bitter. For touch, the children felt several different materials and organised them into different groups. Finally for hearing, the children listened to a variety of sounds and had to try and guess what the noise was.
We had a lot of fun testing out our senses and learning more about them.
