Dear Parents/Carers
I am just writing to let you know about a couple of things for year 2 in the first 2 weeks.
Reading books and diaries
Children will be given reading books and diaries on Monday (14/7). This is so that class teachers can read and assess children’s levels this week to ensure they bring the correct level of reading book home. Books will be sent out on a Monday and need to be back in school on a Friday so that they can be quarantined over the weekend in line with Covid procedures.
Homework and Spellings
These will be given out from next week. Information about when spelling tests are and when homework is due in will be in the welcome booklet that will be sent home next week as well.
Pictures for topic work
Our topic this term is ‘How life has changed’, this topic involves children looking at how life was different for members of their family compared to how it is now. Our first lesson next week is focused on creating a timeline of the children’s families. Therefore we are asking that children bring in copies of pictures of their family/key people in their life (e.g. themselves, siblings, parents, grandparents etc). If you do not have access to a printer, please email your photos to the school email address so that we can print them off for the children to use in class. Please make it clear in your email that the pictures are for Year 2 topic lessons. If you are not comfortable with photographs being used as part of this lesson, those children will draw pictures instead.
