As part of exploring black history, the children created some fabulous artwork based on African American artist Alma Thomas. They used painting techniques and mosaic tiles to create their own abstract art. The children were very careful, creative and imaginative with their work.
Artist, Alma Thomas, developed her signature style in her 70’s. She created large abstract paintings filled with patterns of bright colours. She also was the first African American artist to have a show at the famous Whitney museum in New York.
