Poetry Fireworks in LKS2

To mark Bonfire Night, the children of Snowdrops, Tulips and Bluebells read, discussed and answered questions on a poem about firework safety. The poem is called ‘Firework Night’ and is by Enid Blyton.

The three classes unpicked vocabulary, looked for clues and made annotations to find out more detail as they read. Using these strategies, the children were able to understand that the poem was about keeping dogs safe during Firework Night.

We went on to discuss the importance of keeping pets safe when fireworks are going off outside. Everyone worked very hard and enjoyed their reading!
