Reception Classes – Home Learning 05.01.21

Here is a daily plan for today for all reception children at home. We will be moving to set work through google classrooms within the next few days. We will send information about this today.

Article 13: You have the right to find out things and share what you think with others, by talking, drawing, writing or in any other way unless it harms or offends other people.

Article 28: You have the right to a good quality education. You should be encouraged to go to school to the highest level you can.

Phonics

Choose phase 2. Revise all words.  Ask your child to sound out the words. Are the words real or nonsense words? Collect the real words in the treasure chest. Put the nonsense words on the bin. The objective is to sound out the words. Do not worry if your child does not know if they are real or nonsense.

Keep a note of some of the real words (5 or 6 words). Say each word and ask your child to sound it out and write it.

Literacy

Discuss Christmas or the holidays. Ideally discuss presents received. Or a place visited. Help your child to say a simple sentence, for example; “I got a____” or “I got a ____ from santa” or “I went to_______”. Repeat the sentence so that it becomes familiar. Ask your child to draw a paciture showing the sentence and then write it. Children are expected to sound out the words and make a good attempt at writing them. They should not be expected to spell all words with correct spelling, but rather, how the word sounds. Do not ask your child to copy words.

 

Maths

Write numbers on separate pieces of paper. 1-10 or 1-20 depending on the confidence of your child with the number order / recognition. Show the numbers in a random order. Can your child order the numbers?

Play the game 1-10 or 1-20. Ask your child to order the numbers from smallest to largest. Point out that there are numbers missing. Encourage your child to use the numbers they have ordered to help order the numbers.
