As part of our science topic all about materials Year 1 have been finding out about upcycling. We really enjoyed finding out how to turn rubbish into useful things you could use around the house. We took a single use plastic bottle and upcycled it so that meant we gave it another useful ‘life’. I our group we discussed what we could use the plastic bottle for. We had some great ideas – a vase to put a flower in and give it to someone on Valentine’s Day, a pencil pot, a beaker. It really got us thinking about recycling and re-using.
