Good morning Year 1,
Login to Google classroom to view todays tasks. Live meets will be at 9:30am, 11:00am and 1pm.
Todays learning is as follows:
Phonics – Our sound today is ‘tion’. Watch the video to learn todays sound and practise the spellings at the end of the video. Play ‘yes/no yeti’ phase 3 on phonics bloom. Read the sentences and then tick yes or no if they think it is right or wrong.
Handwriting – practise writing the letter ‘r’ from your handwriting pack.
English – Spelling task – Look at the sheet from your home pack titled real and nonsense words. Differentiate between real & nonsense words which use the split digraph o-e. Can you colour all the real words one colour and chose a different colour for all the nonsense words?
Reading – Read the book you have chosen this week.
Today you are going to practise using adjectives, they are describing words. Can you think of any describing words? Watch the adjectives video to remind yourself what adjectives are. If you missed this morning’s live lesson or you would like another try, look at the sunset image in your home learning pack. Look at the prompts above it to help describe the sunset using adjectives which give more detail & make our writing interesting. Can you think of adjectives to describe the sunset?
Main task – Watch the ‘Something Fishy’ film clip again and concentrate on looking for the fish and the octopus. Can you use the sheet in your home learning packs to create word banks to describe fish and then the octopus. (We will be using these in tomorrow’s lesson.) If you need to look back at the video again to see what they look like then do. Can you think of words to describe – quantity, size, age, shape, colour, material?
Maths – Yesterday we used our paper rulers to measure two items and find the difference. Today we are going to be solving some measurement word problems. We will work through some examples during today’s live lesson so you will need your yellow maths book and a pencil for this.
Main Task – Today your task is to cut out each of the word problems in your home learning pack and then stick them in your yellow maths book, answering each one underneath.
History – We will continue our look at The Battle of Hastings, today looking in more depth at the key dates of 1066.
Main Task – Look through the power point on the Battle of Hastings dates to see what the key dates both before, during and after the Battle of Hastings were. Then see if you can complete a timeline about The Battle of Hastings adding the key dates of 1066 in the correct order. (The sheets needed are in the home learning pack.)
Don’t forget to send us a photo of your finished timeline.
