Good morning Year 1!
Login to Google classroom to view todays tasks. Our live meets today will be 9am, 11am and 1pm.
Todays home learning tasks are as follows:
Phonics:
Our sound today is ‘i-e’.
Watch the video to learn todays sound, practise the spellings at the end of the video.
At the end can you hold a sentence – I went fast down the slide.
Play Buried Treasure. Click on the phase 5 and i-e. Can you tell which words are real or fake?
Handwriting – practise writing the letter ‘x’ from your handwriting pack
English:
GAP task – Can you write some exclamatory sentences to describe aliens. Each sentence could start with either what or how. But remember not to write a question.
Reading – Read the book you have chosen this week.
Main task – Watch the video again about the Rainbow Fish. Take part in a hot seating and pretend you are the Rainbow Fish. Read the questions on the attached power point and see if you can answer them as the Rainbow Fish. (We are just verbally answering the questions and don’t need to record them.)
Maths:
Speed calc – complete page 14 in CGP maths book. Work through and answer the subtraction questions!
Main task – Todays lesson was originally planned to be an ‘outdoor learning’ session (if you want to wrap up, pop your wellies and gloves on) it still can be. If not you can complete this task indoors. Today we will be recapping measuring using a ruler on our live meet at 11am this morning. Your task is to hunt for objects that are the same size. In your home learning pack, you have a sheet with a table of different measurements. See if you can find two different objects for those measurements. For example, if you decide to go outside, can you find a leaf that is 10cm? can you find a stick that is also 10cm? Its up to you what you choose to measure
DT:
Can you remember what features we found that the Motte and Bailey castle had when we compared different castles yesterday. Today we are going to design our own Motte and Bailey castle. What features do you think you will have to add?
Task:
• Look through the Motte and Bailey Power point
• Can you design your own Motte and Bailey castle on a piece of plain paper? You can include annotations of features you have included. What will your castle look like? What features will you draw?
(Don’t forget to take a photo so we can see your brilliant designs!)
