Place value games in Maths

This week in Maths we are focusing on place value. The children in Nightingales have been looking at the tens and ones in two-digit numbers and comparing numbers. Today to practice recognising which numbers are greater, the children in Nightingales played a place value game. Each player had to set out their tens and ones column and then roll the dice. They had to decide whether they were going to put the number they rolled in the tens or ones. The aim of the game was to make a greater number than their partner. We had a lot of fun playing this game and some children even moved on to 3 digit numbers!
