Supporting Living Streets Walking Bus

Parents and carers of pupils at Windy Noon Primary School  were challenged to rethink how they get their children to school this week to help reduce the number of cars around our school gates.

Today over 80 pupils and staff joined up with Gateshead Council’s road safety team and local councillors to create a walking bus. Despite the weather, the children turn up ready to walk to school from the Fiddlers Three Pub carpark to school, in a bid to encourage families to walk to school as much as possible to reduce congestion around our school and in turn making roads around our school safer and healthier for everyone.

A huge thanks to all of the children who supported the event, along with the staff of Windy Nook and Jocelyn and her fabulous road safety team for organising the event. It was a great success! Can we also take the opportunity to thank the management at the Fiddlers Three Pub who allowed the event to take place in their carpark. The manager of the pub has very kindly agreed to continue to support the school community and welcomes parents using the carpark before and after school for drop off and pick ups.
