This term, LKS2’s art topic is called ‘See The Light.’ One artist that we have studied is Vincent Van Gogh. In his later work, he produced work with a lot of light. One of his most famous paintings, ‘Starry Night,’ uses interesting colours and techniques to represent the light of the stars and the moon. The children have been replicating ‘Starry Night’ by creating light with different mediums – oil pastels, colour pencils and watercolours.
LKS2 have also been studying ‘Starry Night’ and have given their own verbal and written responses to it. They have considered the rich textures of the painting, as well as Van Gogh’s famous swirls.
Finally, the classes have all been experimenting with charcoal. This has helped us explore the different levels of shading that we can apply to a piece of art.
We’ve all loved getting very arty this week!
