Good morning Owls,
Login to Google classroom to view today’s tasks. Live meets will be at 9:30am and 10:30am.
Todays learning is as follows:
1. Watch the video to learn todays sound.
At the end can you hold a sentence – Are you sure you saw a penguin?
2. Play dragons den on the phonics play website. Select phase 4 or 5.
3. Perhaps you could read some of your reading book if you have it at home or use the Oxford Owl link below to find a book you would like to read from your book colour band.
4. Lastly why not use our finger fitness video and get your fingers warmed up for writing today.
English – GAP Buster – Today we are going to look at compound words. A
compound word is two or more words used together to make a different word with
its own meaning.
Look through the powerpoint to remind yourself what we mean by compound word. (We are going to loom at this during our live lesson.)
Task – Click on the compound word sheet. How many compound words can you write down that start with:
1. eye
2. fire
Main – Today we are going to look at the picture from our story Lucy and Tom at the Seaside. (Stop the video at 6 seconds.) Take a look at the illustration from the story again. Can you remember what things we said we could see last week?
Task – Your challenge today is to write 4 questions about the illustration. Remember if we are writing questions we need to start them with question words – who, what, where, when, why.
For example I might write – What are people doing in the sea? My answer could be – People are paddling and splashing in the sea.
Can you write 4 questions, each one starting with a different question word and then write the answers too
Maths: Speed Calc – Can you answer the addition and subtraction questions?
1. 10 + 6 =
2. 8 + 5 =
3. 14 + 4 =
4. 11 + 7 =
5. 10 – 6 =
6. 20 – 5 =
Main – Click on the video to listen to a song all about time and the analogue clock.
Today we are going to think about the different things we do throughout the day and what time of day we might do them. For example would I have breakfast in the morning at 8am or at night at 7pm? There are lots of different things we do throughout the day. Have a think about yesterday, can you tell your grown up five different things you did? What part of the day did you do them?
Task – Today I would like you to create your own visual timetable of your day. You could think about what you did yesterday or what you are going to do today.
Can you draw 6 pictures for your visual timetable. (Perhaps you could draw a picture of you waking up, getting dressed, having lunch etc.)
Underneath each picture either write the time (using o’clock or half past.) Or draw the time on an analogue clock.
Ext – Play the matching times game. Click on analogue to analogue.
PE –Today we are taking part in our sports day at school. Here are a few different activities you could do at home so that you can take part in your own sports day too!
1. If you have an egg and a spoon can you have a go at walking from one end of your garden/yard to the other and then back again. Perhaps you could time yourself and other members of your family. Who will be the fastest?
2. Do you have a beanbag or a pair of rolled up socks. Take part in the balancing game. Balance the socks/beanbag on part of your body. (head, shoulder, foot, back of your arm etc.) Who can walk around without dropping it for the longest?
