Dear Parents and Bluebells
Wow! What a busy action packed half term we have had! You’ll be glad to know I am not setting any homework this week other than to do lots of reading, practise your times tables and have loads of fun.
Thank you to parents for your support this half-term. Year 2 to 3 is a challenging step for all children and it takes time to settle in. I appreciate your efforts with homework and engaging with online learning. I have spoken to a number of parents about the importance of homework not becoming an issue of stress or unhappiness. If ever you struggle to access an activity or find it hard to fit in, just drop me a message or speak at the door and we’ll find a solution.
It has been great to get to know children in the class. We are blessed with a fantastic group of children with bright minds and bright ideas. They have loved learning about Boudicca and the Romans, enjoyed hearing about Roger the Rock and Mary Anning. Their reading has come on great strides and their minds are widening with the wonderful maths work they have done. I have been pleasantly surprised by their writing skills, vocabulary and ideas in English. We have some fantastic actors and creators in our class and their hunger to impress with super expanded noun phrases and adverbs is always a pleasure.
I want to assure you that we care greatly about your children’s social and academic development. We want happy and enthusiastic learners and if every you see motivation waning – let us know so we can do something to help.
This half-term, I hope you enjoy some rest and time together. I hope children can re-charge their batteries and I am sure we will have an even better half-term in the run up to Christmas.
Best,
Mr. Newman
