Last week, Year 6 studied some poems from WW1. We all felt that it was important, particularly in the week leading up to Remembrance Sunday, to think about the men and women who have fought valiantly both at home and abroad for the civil liberties that we now enjoy.
War poets such as: Isaac Rosenberg, Wilfred Owen, Robert Graves, Siegfried Sassoon and Ewart Alan Mackintosh were studied. Wilfred Owen became a focus for us and we decided to create a fact-file on him. So it seemed natural for us to use one of his poems (The Sentry) as a stimulus for writing.
