Outdoor art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy

This week in our outdoor session both the Ladybirds and the Dragonflies focused on the transient art style of Andy Goldsworthy, he uses natural resources to create colourful shapes and designs. The Ladybirds decided to work together and create a circular shaped art piece, we made the circle with sticks first to map out our shape and then put the leaves around the outside creating the design. We were really happy with our end product and discussed the different colours and shapes we could see.

The Dragonflies decided to work in groups and create smaller more detailed pieces of artwork. The children used a smaller amount of leaves focusing on the size and colours of the leaves. The children got together when they finished and walked around each piece of art- the artists explained what they had created and why. The Dragonflies were super proud of their pop-up exhibit!

When all of the Reception children came together afterwards we decided to create a huge Andy Goldsworthy inspired piece using the white lines of our road, all of the children did a super job and worked together excellently.
