Bluebells – End of Spring Term Review

What a great few weeks we have had in Bluebells! The children have had a fantastic time learning about a range of topics.

In Maths, children began to learn about equivalent fractions and how to identify them. They learned more about right angles, acute and obtuse angles. A big focus was on telling time to the nearest minute, this is something we’ll continue to push through the year but if you get a chance to support this at home – please do take the chance!

In English, children have worked on redrafting biographies, which resulted in some superb writing. Furthermore, we have looked at myths and children have retold ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’, designed a ‘Wanted Poster’ for the Minotaur and have begun to create their own mythical beast who we will bring to life next term!

As well as a wonderful World Book Day, our reading continues to thrive, we have finished the BFG and children have loved examining the story, including the interesting vocabulary choices. Our relaxed reader has been ‘Charlie Turns into a T-Rex’ which most children have really enjoyed – it is filled with toilet humour but has a lovely narrative.

We have done lots of Art this term, focussed on portraits. Children have produced work in the style of Serat, Picasso and Frida Kahlo, with some bright and exciting portraits produced with pointillism, cubism and shading all practiced.

Aside from Art, children have learned how to search effectively and accurately using online search engines, learned about forces and magnets in Science and tested their sporting skills in cricket.

A highlight of our term came this week, when children returned to performing. KS2 children delivered a great performance at the Easter Service and Bluebells contributed to some fantastic singing.

Thank you, as ever, for your support this term. I look forward to the final Year 3 term with this super class.
