This week children in upper KS2 had the chance to visit St Alban’s Church as part of their WWI history topic. The children went up the church in search for some war graves. After a brief discussion about the timeline of WWI, the children were on the hunt to find the correct graves. They successfully identified 7 war graves, including 2 from WWII and were lucky enough to have Rob from the church tell them a bit about some of the back stories. The children then went into the church to look at some of the memorial plaques and were particularly interested when they saw plaques with names similar to theirs. It was fantastic morning out learning about some of our war heroes from Windy Nook!
