This week, Year 5 and 6 have spent time investigating the impact of exercise on a cognitive task to see whether activity levels effect the body positively or negatively. They carried out a Stroop test and recorded their results before completing a series of tasks of varying activity levels: a moderately paced run, a bleep test and a control task (rest). The children repeated the same cognitive test after each activity and compared the results, seeking patterns. Overall, most children noticed that activity increased scores on the Stroop test and therefore concluded that exercise positively impacts the body in terms of cognitive ability and reactions.
