Another busy week in Nursery!

We have continued to focus on the book, You be You and independently produce fish themed artwork as well as sculpting fish from play dough. Some of our children made their own register this week after observing the adults in nursery which led to other children making a Travel Tracker (a record of how we travel to school). It was lovely to observe the children use their hand made Travel Trackers appropriately and skilfully. The children asked their friends how they travelled to nursery and then found the appropriate icon on their Travel Tracker and then they made a tick or mark next to it. The interaction and language that they used was wonderful! We have started to learn the words and British Sign Language signs of some Christmas songs in preparation for our performance. The children are impressing us at how quickly they are learning them.  As always, we have continued to respect and look after our environment by composting and recycling. We became scientists by caring for our new plants and using magnifying glasses to examine the plants and look for new growth. For maths this week we found matching pairs of shapes within our classroom. For phonics we went outside and performed a variety of actions like: sliding, swaying, swinging and stamping as we told each other what we were doing. For example, “I am sliding.”  “I and stamping.”
