On Monday, we participated in ‘Odd Socks Day’ and attended nursery wearing a pair of odd socks. We also designed a collage pair of odd socks at the creative table and clipped two socks together at the finger gym table with a peg to make a pair. To continue the diversity theme and to celebrate individuality we focused on the book, You be You which tells the tale of a fish called Adri who explores the many ways in which we are different, yet special. We designed fish using our interactive white board, drew fish, made fish with play dough and painted pictures of fish. We also painted and drew on stones to represent the many different fish in the story, You be You. Following on from making apple crumble, we have added some cinnamon (as well as a variety of other spices and herbs) to our play dough area so that when we use our imaginations and re-enact making apple crumble we can add some cinnamon just like we did when we actually cooked it. We repeated and consolidated our maths and phonics activities from the previous week (making groups of two and three/keeping a beat). As part of Nursery Rhyme fortnight, we have learned the following nursery rhymes; This Little Piggy, Sing a Song of Sixpence, London Bridge is Falling Down and Mary had a Little Lamb. On Friday we participation in non-uniform day as part of our Children in Need activities. We talked about why Children in Need exists and designed some Pudsey Bear pictures.
